Took the Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour by Liquid Alaska on June 30th during a stop in Juneau during our cruise of the Inside Passage. This was a first rate operation from beginning to end, and it was the absolute highlight of our 10 day Alaskan adventure. I emailed and spoke on the phone with Abby several times prior to booking and she was always extremely helpful and professional. Our tour guides were Spencer and Joey and they both were phenomenal too. They were trained in wilderness rescue and glacier trekking and they always put safety first. It was obvious that they loved what they do, as they were passionate & fun, keeping everyone entertained during our canoe paddle and trekking. We had five people in our party - three adults (age 50) and three teenagers (age 14, 17 & 17). We all have a basic level of fitness and were able to handle this excursion just fine. I was worried that the excursion was listed as strenuous....it is very active but no prior experience in paddling or trekking is required. We took several breaks during the canoe paddle (2.5 miles each way) and I must say the lake was absolutely breathtaking and so peaceful. The glacier part was surreal too, and it was easy to traverse the glacier with the crampons. As the guides said, "trust your gear." Liquid Alaska provides all the necessary gear you will need too: waterproof pants and wind jacket, helmet, life vest for the lake, gloves for paddling, water proof boots, crampons and walking stick. You will need to bring warm socks, light gloves for the trekking part, and layers (pants and shirt/pullover/jacket). Make sure to bring sunglasses too! The company also provides a water bottle and snacks for the excursion, and then you are rewarded with a hot beverage (hot chocolate, green tea, apple cider, etc.) to celebrate completing. It was one of the best experiences of my lifetime and I would highly recommend it. A huge thanks to Liquid Alaska for bringing ordinary people like me to a very unordinary place!!!

This was really enjoyable to read. We try our best to make our adventure as seamless as possible for our guests from the beginning to the end. We all love our jobs and are grateful to be able to share Alaska and the Mendenhall Glacier with guests. It truly is a magical place. Thank you.

This is not your average canoeing or glacier viewing excursion! The canoeing was hard, but totally worth it.  It was 2.5 miles of canoeing with super funny guides and other great people.  Then we were greeted by the Mendenhall Glacier, which was amazing!  We strapped on our crampons (a man came up with that name - clearly!!) and started climbing.  While we did get to see an ice cave, it was only from a distance.  I wouldn't get your hopes up there if I was you.  It didn't matter though - we had an amazing time and made memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime!  This beats any tour you would find through a cruise ship, and they picked us up right by the pier.  Go... you won't regret it!
