Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

A truly unique and beautiful way to see Mendenhall Glacier up close. Liquid Tours and our guide Kevin did a great job of hosting us and getting us a full experience on the lake. Highly recommend for those who are willing to do some paddling and want to experience the glacier up close.

It is one thing to see the Mendenhall from the visitors center, but a completely different experience to get out on the water with Kevin! Thank you for taking the time to leave a great review!

Let me start by saying at the end of this we were all happy we did it! But, to be honest we were expecting a more leisurely experience. The photo on the website portrays a slightly different experience than we had haha! We had an atmospheric river during our tour, which meant total down pour getting ready for and the first 3-4 miles of our trip. It is 6 miles in total, again I missed that message somewhere. It was hard. Our arms were killing us by the end. We were soaking wet, the rain gear provided did not do much good. Thankfully I brought an extra pair of socks, but the rest in my group were pretty miserable. I wish we would've worn 3-4 more layers. Perhaps we just had a bad weather day! Our guide Mike was sweet and tried hard to make us laugh. He did a really good job. Had the weather been better I think we would have really loved this. No one else in our large cruise group saw what we saw. For that it was worth it! My arms are still sore and my feet are still cold...jk :) Also the guides should be prepared to take photos for us. Thankfully the other group took photos otherwise we'd have no proof.

Well I am happy you were able to brave atmospheric river and got to see what Juneau has to offer! It was definitely our rainiest days of the season! Mike is great at keeping spirits high and it sounds like he did a great job yet again! Thank you for the 5 star review despite the heavy rain!
