Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

Ben and Joey were amazing and knowledgeable tour guides. We started off by canoeing to Mendenhall glacier and trekking up. Ben made sure everything went smoothly for our proposal on the glacier. They went above and beyond to make sure we remembered this special day and gave us an ornament with the date on it from them). Both Ben and Joey will amuse you with their jokes on the way back to shore. Equipment was in great condition and well kept. Overall, the tour was a blast, well organized, and a lot of fun.

This was one of the best tours weā€™ve ever done.! The guides - Ryan and Joey - were friendly and funny! They were also very safety conscious but made sure we saw amazing things. The glacier was incredible. (Though itā€™s scary how quickly it is melting under the effects of climate change!! Note to politicians..) They provided all of the gear - you only need to dress for the chilly wind (although the weather was perfect the day we went!) Ryanā€™s mocha was a nice treat after some serious rowing. A pity we missed the bear that wondered out of the woods 10 minutes before we got back! The scenery - SUPERB! The lake - LOVELY! The rowing - RIGOROUS! The glacier - good .... no .... GREAT! The guides - GIFTED! The boat (it was actually a canoe but I canā€™t find an appropriate c adjective ..)- BEAUTIFUL ! The company - CHEERFUL! The tour - TREMENDOUS! Thanks Liquid Alaska - thoroughly recommend it and weā€™ll be back. Chris & Mike (Brisbane, Australia)
