Overview

Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

What To Expect

Liquid Alaska Tours

Liquid Alaska Tours pick up guests at the cruise ship docks and their experience starts right there. This is a 4 hour all inclusive tour, including 2 hours paddling around the Mendenhall Lake to see the Mendenhall Glacier and experience the wild of Alaska in the Tongass National Forest, the largest National Forest in the United States.

Mendenhall Glacier

Guests will get up close and personal with the Mendenhall Glacier as they canoe up to the face of the glacier and experience it from a canoe on Mendenhall Lake.

Tongass National Forest

Our entire tour takes place in Tongass National Forest. We bring guests out to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area to the West Side Glacier Parking area. This is where our tour gears up, goes over safety and paddling instructions and starts our paddle to the Mendenhall Glacier- all located in the Tongass National Forest.

Our tour guide Joey was top notch. He was on time, well prepared, personable, knowledgeable and told us exactly what to expect and what to do. The equipment was high quality and well taken care of. After we returned Joey transformed into a waiter, serving us warm drinks and healthy and delicious snacks. We cannot recommend this excursion enough or rate it any higher especially if you are fortunate enough to get a guide like Joey. Thanks Joey for a wonderful time - it was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska!!

My husband and I did the canoe and Glacier tour and it was amazing! Our guides Abby and Joey were very knowledgeable and thorough about the glacier and the area. We were also treated to some 'entertaining' jokes by Joey along the way. Fully recommend this tour to anyone who visits Juneau. FYI- we came in on the Disney cruise and the timing was perfect. We still had plenty of time to explore the town after the tour.

Our ICE Adventure Tour is 5.5 hours long and we find it the perfect amount of time to experience the adventure of the Mendenhall Glacier. We all our gear and equipment directly to the lake to be as efficient as possible with our guests time. Thank you for exploring with us.

My son and I visited Alaska the first week in July! Abby and Ryan were the tour guides for the Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour! We has such a great time!! We asked a lot of questions about the glaciers and just Alaska in general and both guides were so knowledgeable! They provided us with such interesting facts, went above and beyond to ensure we got the most we could from the tour! We had a lot of laughs and most of all we both felt very safe with them, on the row boat and climbing the glaciers as well! It was definitely the highlight of our Alaska vacation! Great job guys...be well and hopefully we'll see you again in the near future!!
