Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Our family did this excursion during our stop in Juneau on our Alaskan cruise. It was fantastic! Our kids (12 & 15) loved it and paddled the whole time. Breathtaking views of the glacier and Nugget Falls!

My teenage daughter and I went on the canoeing trip on the Mendenhall Lake with Micah and Ben yesterday. Even though we both did not have any canoeing experience, we had fantastic time on this trip!!! Micah and Ben were excellent guides! They are very knowledgeable about what they are doing. They are very caring and fun to be with. We were on the canoe with other five travelers, and everyone was doing well under Micah and Benā€™s guidance. After the tour, they offered us water, coffee, and nice little snacks.

No canoe experience necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know to enjoy paddling around Mendenhall Lake. We are so happy to be apart of an Alaskan memory with your daughter. Thank you.

The personal interaction made this trip terrific. Our guide, Joey, really loves guiding in the outdoors. He lead a group of about 10 in a large canoe across Mendenhall lake, up close to the glacier face, and into the spray of the waterfall. The experience and the conversation was uplifting. And then there were snacks. The company provided waterproof gear, and despite some rain, this was a wonderful trip. And sun is over-rated anyway when you are on the water. He did call our team paddling like that of a Drunken Caterpillar initially, but we improved. Yay team!

We love overcast days on the lake, it really makes the blues of the glacier pop. Canoeing can be quite funny until everyone gets the hang out it. We are happy to hear Joey made your team laugh, he is quite the character. Thank you.
