Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

This was a fantastic paddle with Casey and Mario. Both of them were very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. They also ensured we were safe on the glacier as there had been significant rain a few days before

Our tour guide Casey and Ryan were amazing and kept giving us lots of information regarding the ice glaciers and how they have receded in the past. They made sure that the sections of glacier area were safe for us to walk by by scrutinizing it themselves before and very eagerly took pictures for us throughout the trip. Overall a worthwhile trip and I would suggest anyone to visit the glaciers if its in their bucket list before it all melts away.

My sister and I partook in the canoe tour and glacier trek on July 27, 2021. The tour guides- Baxter and Andrew- were fantastic. Both guides made the trip memorable, and both extremely kind and helpful. The guides answered all of our questions and were very informative. We felt very safe and comfortable on the tour. The canoe trip and hike was not overly exhaustive, and certainly worth the effort. We would highly recommend this experience. As a bonus, we got some amazing photos! The tour guides took several for us and they turned out great.
