Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

Our experience with Andrew and Baxter on this tour was a highlight of our three week Alaskan adventure. We'd spent the day before admiring glorious Nugget Falls and the Mendenhall Glacier from both the visitors center and on a hike along the West Glacier Trail. Both were superb experiences. But nothing could match the thrill and awe of standing atop the glacier and stepping into its brilliant blue ice caves. The 2 1/2 mile paddle to the glacier was tranquil and well paced (though some on the boat seemed to struggle with the moderate exertion), and our guides did a brilliant job sharing their knowledge of the area and their enthusiasm for its splendor. It is devastating to consider the rapid loss of this beautiful glacier to the ravages of climate change. If you're fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit Mendenhall Glacier now, I can see no better way to do so than with this company's tour

Baxter and Ryan were outstanding. The trip was safe and full of local and geological facts. They take pride in the knowledge and love and respect of the outdoors. The experience was fun and unique. I would hire both of them if it was my company. Kathleen
