Venture within a safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of the Mendenhall Glacier and the beautiful Nugget Falls where you will hit the beach and refuel for the return paddle with an Alaskan-style snack. The canoe guides, Tanner and Ariel, had a lot of good information about the glaciers. They were really great with our young kids and guided us very well on the ride. We got to see the glacier as close as we could without getting caught in any big waves. We also stopped at Nugget Falls to take a break and snack on some yummy platter with reindeer sausage/crackers/vegetable. It truly was beautiful.

We are a family of 6. Wife and I, with four children ranging in ages from 7 to 16. Our two older teenage boys were at the front of the canoe, setting the pace for paddlers on each side of the canoe. The younger two children splashed their paddles in the water a few times, then simply rode in the canoe with us for the remainder of the trip. We paddled up towards the glacier. Spun the canoe around so everyone can shoot photos and selfies. Then paddled towards the waterfall. Again, another opportunity to shoot more photos. Then paddled to one of the floating icebergs in the lake. Paddled right up close to the iceberg, almost close enough to touch it with our paddles. Then paddled back towards the beach for yummy crackers and salmon dip. Was able to get a great appreciation of the lake and awesome glacier. Highly recommend.

Canoe tour of lake Mendenhall to the Mendenhall glacier was outstanding. Our guide Kenneth was pleasant, informative and kind enough to lie that we were doing a good job paddling when he was doing most of the work. The stop at the falls for a snack of exceptional smoked salmon dip was the icing on the cake. Our van driver sterling was also very informative and entertaining on the drive out and back. An all around excellent day to spectacular scenery with a great guide. Highly recommended for those who don’t want to just sit and hear narration but actually experience close up and exert some energy
