Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure

Overview
Paddle across Mendenhall Lake, navigating past icebergs, surrounded by Alaskan wildlife on an exceptionally stable, 28-foot, traditional Tlingit-style canoe, with all modern safety gear supplied. Venture within a safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of the Mendenhall Glacier and the beautiful Nugget Falls where you will hit the beach and refuel for the return paddle with an Alaskan-style snack. Due to the close approach to the glacier face, the Forest Service tightly controls the number of participants. Be one of the lucky few to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure!

Great excursion to see the Mendenhall Glacier from the water. It does take a bit of physical effort but is not strenuous. We were picked up and dropped back off at our port stop in Juneau. The first hour is spent canoeing to the Glacier. You have to remain a safe distance away in case a piece of the glacier breaks off (about 300 feet). Then you rest on the other side of the lake near the waterfall (great place to take some pictures). You are provided with a light snack. Then you canoe back to the other side of the lake. Shay our tour guide was great! Would definitely recommend this excursion to my friends and family.

I hope the Trip Advisor staff can contact me, we trust them to make the tour reservation, when we arrived at the meeting point the representatives of the agency that manages the tour told us that they were sorry but that the tour had been oversold and that They couldn't take us up. We wasted an hour arguing and thanks to another couple who had the same thing happen to them, (even though they had booked more than 20 days ago just like us), they managed to get them on and we got them behind them. From that point on, the experience was not very nice.

Excellent šŸ‘ŒšŸ» for sure, beautiful views, easy, the best. The guide Jonah (is the very best) is the best!! The Alaska adventure Tours company, highly recommended. You don't need to bring rain boots, they'll lend you there. The most you get wet are a few small drops that fall on you while paddling. It's great and safe. You go on a calm and small lake. You get to the waterfall and you get off, it's incredible. There is room for 20 people per canoe, so there are 5 people who don't paddle. You don't walk on the glacier, but you do see it up close. You can touch the water of the waterfall.
