Experience the long day light hours of Alaska's Midnight Sun. Due to the northern location Alaska's Arctic experiences long days of daylight. Discover Alaska's Arctic and enjoy the added daylight.

The ground tour can take place in a 26 passenger coach or 15 passenger van depending on the number of guests we have.

Longest time between stops is 2 hours; however, some stops will be closer. Most stops have an outhouse or bathroom for guests to use if we are not traveling in the coach which has a bathroom on board.

James Dalton Highway

NOT GOING TO COLDOOT - But will be travelling 200 miles north of Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle sign which is located at Mile Post 115 of the Dalton Highway. Along the journey see and learn the story of Alaska's Arctic from your guide both while in motion and at the various stops along the way. View the remarkable Trans Alaska Pipeline up close and learn the story behind this engineering marvel. Explore up close the amazing arctic tundra and feel the veins of ice just beneath the surface.

Arctic Circle Trading Post

Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post situated in the rural community of Joy, Alaska. Learn of homesteading by early Alaska pioneers.

Yukon River Bridge

Experience the mighty Yukon River. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland's most famous waterway and learn of the river's storied past. This tour will stop both on the way north and south - meals are not included but it is here at the Yukon River Camp where guests can purchase lunch and dinner if needed (or yes, they can bring their own food on the tour)

BLM Arctic Circle Monument Sign

Cross the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. This will be your turnaround point for the tour. BUT, the tour continues with more information and stops along the way south.

The trip was fantastic once we got going. Slow start! We were to bring our own meals but spent the first hour of the trip in Safeway parking lot waiting for unprepared guests which ran our trip super late. Our guide Matt couldn’t have been better, super accommodating, thorough in his knowledge and shared many stories. Videos, stops and little extra tidbits made for a fun day. The only improvement could be logistics on the part of the booking side to be sure all guests come prepared so those we of us who did weren’t sitting around waiting for them.

Took the midnight sun tour July 8. I initially signed up primarily to cross the Arctic Circle, but that part of the tour was a little anticlimactic. You do the photo op at the sign, use the restroom, and that's it. I did find the stops along the way to be very interesting. Particularly enjoyed stopping at the Yukon River to eat the lunch and dinner I brought along (the restaurant there is currently closed, and they do a good job advising you during booking). Also good to learn about the pipeline, permafrost, and the different landscapes. There are also a couple of stops at scenic overlooks, and if when it's safe to do so, the driver will slow or stop for wildlife photography. And fun to travel the Dalton Highway. After the novelty wears off, the scenery is still nice. We lucked out, got a nice photo op of the (almost) midnight sun on the return. Beware it is a long day, riding in a bus. And the return trip seems longer, because you saw most of the attractions on the way up. I think there's an added-cost option to continue north beyond the Arctic Circle sign and fly back. You do need to plan your fluid intake, since the interval between some of the toilet stops is a couple of hours. Start of tour is well-organized. You meet near the airport, and there were no check-in hassles. Because the Yukon River restaurant is closed (as of July 2021), the tour starts with a trip to a local supermarket to pick up food for lunch and dinner (unless you brought your own). I would do this tour again. I think there's also a version that leaves earlier and returns earlier. Travelling in the midnight sun sounds really cool, but it's the last couple hours of the trip and I was saturated from the beautiful landscape I saw in the morning and after noon.
