We just returned from a spectacular tour. The sites were incomparable, and our guide, Norma, was great. From seeing not only the monuments noted on the 17 mile drive but others as well, (most notably the giant hogan, and Eye of the Sun) to learning about the geology and history of the area, and then hearing a beautiful Navajo song performed for us in the cavernous hogan- the tour was awesome. We were a small tour, and Norma was able to accommodate a few special requests; she was knowledgeable, had a lovely voice, and was one heck of a driver! We couldnā€™t have been more pleased with this tour!

We went on the 2.5 hour afternoon tour with Toney. The tour actually lasted 3.5 hours, but this was great, we really enjoyed it and Toney's insights and imagination - he has been guiding tours for many years and has had time to see all sorts of shapes and faces in the rocks. He also sang a few Navajo songs to drum accompaniment within a natural amphitheatre, and was helpful in suggesting the best places from which to take good photographs. We really enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely recommend it to others.

We booked a tour at 12 noon. When the guide hadn't arrived by 12:15 we called the office. The assigned guide never called to say he was late. The office did not take the initiative to contact any of those who purchased tickets. A replacement guide was assigned and we left 30 minutes after the assigned time. So, take the initiative to call the tour office if the guide is even a few minutes late. We visited a hogan on the tour to see a woman demonstrate carding wool and making yarn. A gratuity was expected for this visit. This was not an optional visit. We were glad we had cash with us. It might be a good idea to bring a bandanna and wear it over your nose. It is very dusty. A couple of the stops are by people selling goods. Just be aware of that - it's not all scenery We are glad we went, despite the issues we had with the trip
