What To Expect

Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve

All hot air balloon tours check in at the Deer Valley Airport Balloon Ride Parking Area, unless the roundtrip hotel transfers option is selected. Guests will float above the awe-inspiring Sonoran Desert viewing local landmarks, wildlife and plant life from above.

Camelback Mountain

Enjoy stunning views of iconic Camelback Mountain in the heart of the Phoenix Valley. You pilot will share the history of this fascinating city and will point out local wildlife and plant life.

Downtown Phoenix

You will be able to see Downtown Phoenix in the distance as you soar over the valley. As you begin to land, you'll see a table complete with linens and china in the heart of the desert, a clue to what you are about to enjoy! You are greeted with a traditional celebration that includes scrumptiously prepared gourmet cuisine from the award-winning Vincent’s on Camelback restaurant. First-time flyers will be treated to the legendary Balloonists Ceremony that balloonists all over the world have been sharing for more than a century.

Beautiful, breathtaking balloon ride over the amazing Senoran Landscape. My wife and I are still in awe of all parts of this tour. We got up to 5k feet and it was smooth and not scary at all. The pilot and crew are amazing and the personalities were nothing short of hilarious. Very professional and safety oriented and you could tell they all love being desert rats. The people make this place even more beautiful. If this tour is not on your agenda you will regret it. Simply amazing!

I have always wanted to do this. Afraid of heights I was concerned about being able to fully enjoy the experience. I was assured I would not be bothered by the height as the balloon rises slowly. This was absolutely accurate. Even at 2700 feet looking out I was perfectly fine. I never felt unsafe and it was obvious safety was of the utmost priority. It was such a smooth and quiet ride, due I'm sure to the expertise of the pilot. I loved the floating and whooshing of the fire. I was amazed at the effort and manpower this activity required from getting the balloons and equipment out to the desert, balloons inflated and then packed up. The crew are in constant communication with the pilot regarding the landing and picking the right spot. This is a well organized group. Enjoyed the post ride champagne breakfast (mimosa's too!). Appreciated the table cloths, warm quiche and real champagne glasses, not plastic! I would have liked to fly further, but we were at the mercy of the wind. Maybe next trip! I would definitely do again. Also I was staying in downtown Phoenix without a car and Hot Air Expeditions picked me up at my hotel (for a small fee). Not all do this and was greatly appreciated.

Most amazing exhilarating experience floating 5000 ft above the dessert surrounded by other balloons in the air. So cool ! The pilot Walter was both professional , experienced and entertaining. We finished with a beautiful champagne breakfast in the dessert. A definite must do ! For those of you who are afraid of heights not to worry as once you are in the air the depth is not noticeable as you focus on the view. And it's very smooth as you float , very little movement. Overall you are taken by the whole experience that you forget everything that you thought you were afraid of !!
