Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

What a wonderful, real Alaskan easy to spend a day! Chad and Izzy are great and really took us through the life of working with and training these magnificent dogs! I would highly recommend this for the whole family!

The dogs were so enthusiastic and affectionate. We loved the handlers as well. It was quite thrilling to us to know that two of the three dogs pulling us on our bicycle-wheel sled (no snow available) had been on the team that won the Iditarod last year. Everyone who worked there was cheerful and knowledgeable. We came away with a new understanding of an important part of Alaska's culture.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Alaska. How often do you get to drive your own dog sled? Our tour group a divided into two halves. My half drove the dog sleds first. Oh what fun it is to have these beautiful dogs pull your wheeled sled through a winding course through the forest. Of course, you have to steer and prevent the dogs from going too fast. The dogs were bred to run and love to pull your sled. The second half of the experience was a visit to the seven-week-old puppies for some cuddling and a look at the equipment used in the Iditarod Race.
