Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview

This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

AK Sled Dogs is awesome. The people running the kennel are amazing and, oh yeah, the kennel is made up of Iditarod CHAMPIONS. The hypest party was seeing Beetle (a retired multiple Iditarod champion) run up and down the line of sled dogs, before we left for dry mushing, getting them all riled up. It was an experience my group and I will never forget.

Awesome experience! The team at AK Sled is super helpful, enthusiastic, and love their dogs. It’s so wonderful to see how well the dogs are being cared for and they explain in detail how the Idatarod racing experience - impressive they won 5 races recently and we got to run with two of the champion dogs! Must do in Alaska!!!

This was our all time favorite thing that we did while vacationing in Alaska!! We learned so much about mushing, the dogs, and the Iditarod. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate about their work and it was their priority that their guests were safe and had a great time. We got to see the owner's 4 trophies for winning the Iditarod, and also got to hold puppies from litters that were 1 week and 3 weeks old, and play with 2 month old puppies. It was a fantastic time for sure!!
