Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview
This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

This was the last major excursion of our Alaska dream vacation and what a way to finish! Becky picked us up at our cabin and we had an amazing experience with both her and Gabby...we did a trail with four-dog teams and then had a wonderful tour of the kennels...we saw past champions as well as this years team dogs and the younger ones that are beginning their training. These dogs receive an incredible amount of love and care and you can tell the dogs live for what they do! They are happy and friendly and it was great getting some dog kisses! And oh my, the puppies!! There was a 4.5 week old litter with lots of cuddles and puppy breath :-). We were able to see an impressive array of Iditerod trophies and then back to our cabin. If you're a dog lover you HAVE to do this, and if you are one who believes this sport is cruel, you should really check it out because you just might change your mind...these dogs are happier and get better care than a lot of people I know! Just fabulous experience...thanks Becky and Gabby :-)

Thank you! These posts make my day. It's exciting getting to meet the race team, they're not always there. Then seeing the past champs and getting to snuggle some of the brand new champs that have puppy breath. Haha. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed the tour.

This is a must do in Alaska! Be it winter or summer, rain or shine - such a great feeling! It was my first time being a musher, and I loved it! Learning the basics of this sport, and the kennel, and the Iditarod race, cuddling with puppies! If you love dogs, highly recommend!!

We had a great time with Gabby as she introduced us to all the dogs and taught us about dog sledding. What a unique experience getting to drive the cart! Afterwards we were able to cuddle some 10 day old husky nuggets! Excellent operation. Only in Alaska!
