Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview

This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

My wife got to mush her own team of sled dogs, all of which were Iditarod champions. It was an excellent afternoon and a great experience. Cant wait until we come back to Alaska to do it again!

We last-minute added this excursion to our Talkeetna trip (booked at their downtown location) and are SO glad we did - what a seriously unique and truly Alaskan experience this was! We learned so much about the dogs at the kennel, got to pet 12-week old puppies, see where the dogs are housed, and mush our own sled dog team through the forest!!! These dogs are incredible athletes and absolutely love what they do. You can tell how much each person who works at the kennel loves them - they know each dog by name and know all of their quirks. Mind you, there are nearly 100 dogs there so that's pretty incredible! The sled dog ride through the forest was so much fun. It was great watching the dogs do what they love, then getting to experience "driving" the cart behind them was awesome! Highly recommended.. you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I just came back from an amazing interactive AK sled dog tour. Everything from setting up the tour, to learning about the Iditarod and the Seavey legacy, to mushing our own team of pups and interacting with the pups was seamless, informative, inspiring, fun, adventurous, heartwarming and fascinating. Dre, one of the resident mushers, did a fabulous job of sharing her passion and guiding us through the tour. We really can’t say enough about this tour... We would highly recommend this tour. All of the pups are cherished and well taken care of- they are the friendliest bunch of pups we have ever met. Don’t think twice about this tour- you won’t regret it.
