Mush Your Own Sled Dog Team (Summer/Fall Tour)

Overview

This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

Our family thought this sled dog experience was epic!! We felt like the staff were excellent, and it was fun to chat with Chad about his two experiences in the Iditarod. We all learned a lot, and had fun the whole time! And taking the dogs out on the course was so much fun. :) They just WANT to run! The dogs who weren’t selected to go seemed jealous… We learned that this is the only tour in Alaska that allows you to run the dogs yourself. But we had excellent instruction and oversight and never felt uncomfortable out on their course. It really was amazing driving a team of dogs. They are so intelligent and responsive! We appreciated that they had some appropriate rubber boots for us to wear out on the course, as it was muddy and wet. We also loved holding the three-week old fluff-ball puppies and playing with the energetic three month-old puppies. And it feels good that our going on the tour helps to support Dallas and his teams, as they clearly love these dogs! I wouldn’t miss it!!!

This was sooo much fun and so rewarding. I loved getting to interact with the dogs and play with the puppies! Going out on the course and driving the training sleds was AMAZING! The strength and energy of just 4 dogs is remarkable. The friendliness and expertise of the staff was outstanding! They educated us on the process of raising and training the dogs and just how much love and care goes into each and every one. Plan on getting wet and muddy and dress appropriately, but honestly you wont care because you will love every minute of it!

I never thought I would ever be able to drive my own team of sled dogs through the mud in beautiful Alaska. The guides were so passionate about their work. I learned so many things about the Iditarod. I even got to snuggle puppies!
