My husband and I went to Charleston from Myrtle Beach today (5/18/2017). We met the tour at Dillard's at the Coastal Strand mall at 6:30. We left at 7 AM and travelled to Charleston via motor coach bus. There were 3 parts to the day - 1) Palmetto Carriage tour of the city, approximately 1 hour, 2) a harbor cruise aboard the Carolina Belle, approximately 1 1/2 hours, and 3) a tour of Boone Hall Plantation, approximately 2 hours. I would rate the 3 parts on the order we took them - the carriage ride was fabulous, the harbor cruise was informative and pleasant and included a box lunch, and the tour of the plantation was ok. The real problem with it was that there was a guided tour of the main house which we believed we had to take first, and this caused us to be rushed in enjoying the other aspects of the plantation. The tram ride around the perimeter of the farm was extremely interesting, but we were pressed for time and had to ask the guide to speed it up so we could get back to the bus in time. It should have been pointed out to us that all parts of the plantation were up to the guest, and DO NOT MISS THE TRAM RIDE, in fact, go on it first.

If you are looking to see parts of Old Southern culture, this is a little taste of that culture. The buggy ride was slow enough to see old Charleston and our driver was very entertaining and informative. He made sure we saw/heard both the good and the bad of civil war times. The boat tour was relaxing and lunch was very tasty and fresh. Boone Plantation gives you a snapshot of southern life from its founding until present day. The slave quarters remind you of the not so nice times of southern culture. The tour of the house and its history as told by our guide was very colourful and informative. The bus ride there and back was comfortable and our driver pointed out places of interest as we passed them. We left on time and were back at almost the time indicated when we booked. Both my husband and I enjoyed the trip.

We enjoyed the trip to Charleston while we were at Myrtle Beach. We drove ourselves back the next day to see the Angel Oak Tree..which was great.
