This activity including a lunch was poorly thought out and delivered. The rafting was less than exciting, there were only three particularly swift rapids. The rest was a yawn!
The lunch stop had no where for people to sit with any kind of comfort. They could at least have scouted out the area and set up some logs to sit on. The visitors had to make their own sandwiches and the watermelon was a yellow one that was not sweet. Do not book with this tour .

Mae, I wish you had told us that you weren't satisfied with your experience - guest satisfaction is second only to safety here at West Virginia Adventures.
When we discussed your group and our available adventures we chose the Family Day Trip with Lunch because of the milder water appropriate for less active/experienced paddlers and kids under 11. This is a scenic float with a few small Class II and III rapids - ideal, in our opinion, for the small kids and older adults in your group.
The New River Gorge is a National River, protected by the US Park Service. It isn't legal or appropriate to set up logs or benches in this wild place, so most of our guests choose to sit in the grass or on natural logs and rocks. We have literally never had a complaint about the lack of seating at lunch - but know that our team will meet to brainstorm ways to make our guests more comfortable.
Our meal service is served buffet style so our guests can build the meal that fits their food preferences and hunger level.
I'm sorry your experience wasn't what your group was seeking. I'll be in touch today to see if there is anything we can do to make it right.
Thanks again for choosing West Virginia Adventures.

We had a lot of fun. The river was running high when we went in May 2018 so we
could not do the class 3-4 but is certainly was worth it.
Stayed in the cabin they have there plus one tent. Cabin was very nice and updated.
Good coffee in the room.
There were some decent restaurants in the area.

Our family of 5 (2 18 year olds, 1 21 year old and 52 year old parents). Lots of fun, good rapids, a chance to swim - all in under 3 hours. The actual time on the river was 90 minutes - time to get to the river, put in and and then take out, load up and drive back was the other 90. Nonetheless - we all had a great time and was a perfect afternoon stop on our way to Virginia.

Beth, we're glad you all had a great trip! High water does make a fast trip on the river - we normally spend closer to 3 hours on the water! Glad you all were able to catch some big waves while flows were big!
