I took my teenage son rafting for the first time this summer. I had been on raft trips down the New River before. We selected West Virginia Adventures to be our guides because I wanted to go with a smaller company and see if anything was different from the larger companies I had used in the past. We arrived at their site and the modest accommodations were different but that was of little concern to me. I was looking for a more personal experience. My son was a little nervous and not all that crazy about the idea. West Virginia Adventures was exactly what I was looking for. The owner was there to see that everyone was comfortable and everything was taken care of. The employees clearly enjoyed working for him and he has the ability to promote a relaxed atmosphere. Yet it wasn't a lax operation. Everything was done smoothly and efficiently. My son was the only anxious person there and the owner must have picked up on that and we were placed in the raft with him. By the time we had been on the river for 15 minutes my son was relaxed and having the time of his life. He was quickly looking forward to the next rapid and felt safe. West Virginia Adventures is a great company with a great owner and great staff. It could not have been a better experience.

I had a great time rafting down the New River. The guide was awesome John Henry, and was very knowledgeable of the history of the river and seemed like he enjoyed what he was doing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good time...

We had a stellar time on our white water rafting (New Gorge River - Lower) adventure. The guides were awesome, answered questions, talked us through the rapids, and joked with us. The lunch provided was delicious and I loved seeing the "leave no trace" rule for maintaining the cleanliness of the river banks. I would highly recommend!
