Class III/IV rapids provide excitement and a trip you will never forget. Amazing scenery, high adventure, no experience required, trips run March through October each year. Day trips meet at 9 AM and include a riverside catered lunch break at the halfway point. Short on time? Try the Afternoon Express run, meeting 3 PM daily.

So much fun! The group of five of us went together (my wife, my brother-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and myself). My parents-in-law are in their early 60's (though quite healthy) and barely speak any English (they were visiting from Korea), but this didn't stop us from having a GREAT time. Our tour guide Phil was great at making the spoken instructions simple and was very patient with us. He was very funny and made us all feel very welcome. The tour was of the lower New River and consisted of some paddling, a picnic lunch of sandwiches, chips, and cookies (great considering you carry the food with you in the raft) and then some more paddling. It is an excellent value and of the perfect length. about 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. As the weather was unseasonably cool, the guides even offered my family wet suits and waterproof jackets to wear upon request. We will definitely return!

This was our first rafting trip as a family and I was anxious to see how things would turn out. I enjoyed rafting and whitewater canoeing a lot when I was younger. Now with kids, I was not sure how my youngest (7) would fare. West Virginia Adventures was outstanding in their ability to cater to our unique group. The guide selection was perfectly suited for our demographic and allowed the parents to relax and enjoy the journey rather than fret. Each approaching rapid was thoroughly explained and more adventuresome family members could take one of the Duckies through the exhilarating parts of the river while the more cautious could skirt around in relative calm. With fantastic attention to detail from each member of the West Virginia Adventures team, we will certainly plan to repeat in the future!

This was our first whitewater rafting trip and it was AMAZING, thrilling, and exciting! Our guide, Jack, was very professional who knew the river and the history surrounding the river, which made this adventure that much more interesting. I would highly recommend him. The only downfall was that there was not a photographer to take our pictures. It would have been nice to come home with pictures of memories.
