What To Expect
1
Mississippi River
Drive-out along the Mississippi River approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the embarkation point of your airboat from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on the option you selected, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers for a more intimate, personalized experience.
2
Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve
Set out on a 1 hour and 45 minute tour on a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) tract of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your airboat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees. Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording amazing photo opportunities. Keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators, including an albino alligator. Note: This tour does not include hotel pick-up or drop-off unless option selected at checkout.

We did the large airboat and it was so much fun! The bus picked us up (and dropped us off) at our hotel. The bus was comfortable and clean. Prior to getting on the boat there was a nice deck area with bathrooms and drinks. Our captain Ronny was knowledgeable, engaging, and informative - my boyfriend and I felt very safe on the boat. We saw lots of alligators on our tour. We had a great time on this tour and would definitely do it again!

This was such a unique experience, and I highly recommend it! The shuttle picked us up right in front of our hotel. The bus seats were very comfortable, and it was air conditioned. It was about a 1/2 hour ride to the dock. When we got there it was a short wait until we got on our airboat, and there was a bar where you could order a drink. Our airboat captain/tour guide was T Earl. He was very knowledgeable and charismatic. He took us in to deep parts of the swamp and knew the best areas to show us gators and other wildlife. He also encouraged us to stand and take pictures when the boat was stopped. Just FYI when the boat gets moving and if you are sitting in the seat next to the water or even one seat in you will probably get wet. They do sell ponchos in the store by the dock. This was such a great experience, and I highly recommend it! 5 stars for T. Earl!
