My fiance and I booked a bike trip through Paved Paradise and were not disappointed. Brian and his crew showed us around the beautiful neighborhoods of New Orleans, specifically the garden district, the french quarter, and Treme neighborhood. Brian was a great guide and we we're lucky enough to be the only participants that afternoon! Highly recommend as Brian was knowledgeable, kind, and engaging. Be mindful that the city is flat but there is a lot of territory to cover! Our afternoon was about 90 degrees with absurd humidity. Paved Paradise was so gracious and provided us with water. Additionally, Brian answered any and all questions. He was kind enough to provide us with his best reading recommendations via email! Paved Paradise provided us a taste of their bananas, freshly picked behind their new office. Awesome experience, highly recommend if you want to know some history of New Orleans and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the city and its outskirts.

So, as someone who has lived in New Orleans since 2003, I wanted to take a Friday for a bike tour with an independent, local start-up -- sort of a way to see the city differently during the pandemic. Paved Paradise did not disappoint. From their location at a converted corner gas station to the smart storytelling and conversations about tracking down the history of different well-known sites in the Garden District, this tour was excellent. It's a cooperative of four owner-tour guides and they were all on-hand, getting us safely checked-in on fully sanitized bikes, bike helmets, and as many water bottles as we needed along the route. Our tour guide, Brian, was excellent. A true storyteller who really focused on the specific histories of people attached to the places we visited. His surprise stop at a former famous Saints player's house was hilarious. And his epic tale of one of the longest bare-knuckle boxing matches in American history, which he launched into at the corner of a former boxing training site, was super funny and informative. Basically, this is a must-do tour. These folks are so genuine and have built something from the ground-up. They give a great introduction to the city, but also information for locals and even natives.

Bike ride in the tourist areas of New Orleans. Absolutely worth doing at the start of your stay for an overall overview of the city and its specificities. Thanks to our guide for his explanations and his patience with our bad English!
