New York Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

Overview
Nothing says Christmas like Dyker Heights, the most famous display of lights on the planet. Locals have been decorating their homes—personally and professionally—since the '80s, making it a true NYC winter wonderland.

THE TOUR WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN or SHINE!

The ride from Midtown to Dyker Heights in Brooklyn is about an hour long on board of our comfortable coach fully heated with a restroom on board.

Your guide will escort you to Lucy Spata's house, the house that started this tradition, and walk you through the most illuminated streets before taking you back to the bus. You will spend about an hour in Dyker Heights strolling around and taking pictures.

The next stop will be at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights area of Brooklyn. You will have about 25 minutes to take pictures of the breathtaking Manhattan skyline and the Bridge.

Then you will return to Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge. The tour ends at the Bryant Park Winter Village.

This is a great tour. Highly recommended waiting until it’s a week into December to go since many homes were not yet lit.

From Times Square getting to Yotel was a 10 minutes short walk. We were greeted on time by our polite and professional guide and driver. The bus was modern, clean and included a toilet and a/c power plugs. The guide provided lots of interesting information about the city. The hour-long self-tour began at the outrageously decorated house every local TV station reports in front of. We went on the day after Thanksgiving, so many houses weren't lit yet, but I thought it was great that they offered a tour so early since like us not everyone can be in town during the peak of the season and it was definetely worth the visit even with such few houses lit. The twenty-five circa-minute stop in Dumbo provided an opportunity to take great photos of the bridge and skyline. This tour was fun, stress-free, and provided us with the best Instagram pictures of our vacation!

This was a good trip but a bit early being the day after Thanksgiving as a lot of houses still putting up lights or not home. Still very beautiful with what we saw.

Dear Cathy, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed what you saw and thank you so much for your feedback. While we can never know exactly how many houses will be fully decorated, it is generally known that the Christmas light season starts the weekend after Thanksgiving and the residents in Dyker Heights get them up quickly, though the first several days may not be fully decorated. With that being said we believe that starting the tour early is always worth it. Everybody cannot be in town during the peak season.
