What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. He had a good understanding of the history of Newport, and shared interesting tidbits along the way. He also engaged with the riders making it an overall great experience.

Mike, the driver was called in on his day off for our tour. We were lucky. He provided a great tour with loads of information about Newport. We enjoyed the history of the founding of Newport, it’s role in the Revolutionary War as well as the information about the Gilded Age and the “summer cottages”. Recent history was also included with information about JFK. If we had more time I think we would take the tour a second time to learn even more about the city. The self-guided tour of The Breakers was good.

Viking Trolley Tour was a great way to begin our Newport Weekend. Driver/Tour guide was extremely friendly and informative. We gained insight and overview on layout, history and must sights to explore in more detail from the tour. We took the three hour tour which included an hour and fifteen minute stop at Breakers Mansion. Trolley dropped us off and then came back to pick us up. Driver went into much detail about numerous sights as well as Newport History itself along the way. If this is your first visit to Newport I would highly recommend that you make reservations ahead of time for this to be the first thing you do.
