What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

Our guide took us around Newport. We got a great overview of Newport. The Breakers mansion is so elegant, it is hard to beleive is was only a summer cottage. The self guided audio tour of the Breakers was nice but the time alloted was just enough to do the basic tour. Each room had additional information available which would have been nice to hear. If I had it to do over I would have opted for the Scenic Overview tour and done the Breakers seperately to allow more time do explort it. Each Mansion has parking so you can drive there and not be rushed.

My husband and I went to Newport for a few days. We took the Viking Trolley tour with a visit to the Breakers Mansion. Our tour guide Ray was very informative. He knew a great deal about the area and answered any questions we had. It was an excellent overview of Newport. Highly recommend.

My husband and I took a Newport Viking Trolley Tour this October. Ann was our driver and she was incredible. She was able to speak while driving through the crowded streets of Newport and never missed a beat. She mixed history with fun facts!! I have lived in RI most of my life but I learned more about Newport and its rich history from just 90 minutes. We want to go back and take the tour of Doris Duke's mansion as well as stroll the cliff walk!! Highly recommend Newport Viking Tours. Barbara
