We were walking back to our hotel, the Marriott Marquis, through Times Square after dinner one night during our trip and we weren't ready to head to our rooms yet, but were stuffed from dinner and didn't want food or drinks...we were approached by one of the street team promoting the night tour on the Top View buses and since it was so affordable, we said sure, why not? The tour was nice to start out with--we were given earphones to plug in to hear the narration. It was really beautiful to see the city all lit up at night and to learn about the different neighborhoods and their history. About 1/2 way through the tour it just absolutely started pouring down rain--and everyone is sitting on the top open air deck. The bus did pull over and hand out rain ponchos, but it was just raining so hard they did little to help. The second half of the tour was fairly miserable. My glasses were so wet I couldn't see much of anything. Just an absolute mess! I wish they'd just cut the trip short and given us vouchers to use another night. I understand that they tour company doesn't control the weather. And it was very kind of them to even provide the ponchos, but the entire experience was a waste after the rain started.

This tour is about the night view of Manhattan. There is an audio commentary (they supply disposable earbuds). Tour is about an hour long. You get to see quite a few landmarks and neighborhood. It’s excellent for purpose it was designed. We take it every time we are in NYC, just for views.
