Old Town Key West Literary Walking Tour

Overview
Join us every weekend for the Old Town Literary Walking Tour, a stroll through downtown Key West, illuminating stories of writers that have called our island home. Inspired by David A. Kaufelt’s original literary walking tour, our new tour features the former homes and favorite haunts of writers, including Tennessee Williams, Shel Silverstein, Elizabeth Bishop, and Robert Frost, and highlights tales of our lesser-known local talent.

This tour was a leisurely 90-minute or so tour of the homes of some of Key West's most famous literary figures. The stops were planned so that there was only a short walk between each, and even in the heat of a July afternoon (we did the Friday evening tour) it was not overwhelming. Our guide, Sarah, was very knowledgeable and included several interesting anecdotes about some of the author's relationships with Key West. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about Key West than Duval Street.

This tour explored the best of Key West's rich literary history and also some added naturalist/ birding information regarding our feathered Key West citizens! Great fun. TAKE THIS TOUR!

This is such a fun and informative tour -- you get to see just where literary luminaries lived, played and worked while in Key West. And you get to experience such lovely neighborhoods while you're walking around. A great and knowledgeable guide, a not-too-brisk walking pace in lovely Key West. What could be better? We actually had a man in a wheelchair along on our tour. And another man who traveled by bike! So Key West!
