My husband and I went out on the whale watch cruise from Orcas Island. It was hands down the best idea we had! This company was great, casual, witty and fun. They divided up the groups according to best ft for the boats, we ended up on a small boat, which was fantastic. The captain gave us lots of insight on the habits of our local Orca's versus the transients, showed us some Sea Lions, eagles, deer, around the san juans. Then we got to the Orca's, we spent over an hour with them, watching. It was absolutely stunning, they were near enough to see and hear, not just the splash on the horizon. I was able to capture awesome pictures, and it felt like such a personalized trip. Worth the time, worth the money. We'll be coming back again. We'll also want to use their water-taxi service, they'll take you out to the other islands that are state parks the ferries don't go. A+ for this company! Ill never go another route.

The three of us were picked up from the Lummi Island Ferry terminal and rode to Orcas Island to pick up additional passengers. It was a smooth, safe ride the whole way. After departing from Orcas we saw humpback whales, river otters, resident and transient Orca and porpoises. The porpoises rode the bow of the boat for awhile and that was pretty entertaining. Ashley, the naturalist on board was very knowledgeable. She answered everyone's questions and provided us with some fun facts. Paul, the captain was also very knowledgeable and a great host. I would recommend a whale watching tour with them anytime. They sell snacks on board at very reasonable prices. Just bring a few dollar bills. We forgot to bring gloves, but besides that make sure to dress in layers, bring a hat, binoculars and a camera.

This was the highlight of our trip. Our captain was Paul who made the trip very exciting and fun! He was quite a character. We also had a naturalist on board Ashley who was very knowledgeable. We saw so many Orca Whales, some humpbacks, sea lions, seals, porpoises and many birds. It was amazing! They also put the sonogram in the water and we were able to listen to the whales as we watched them traveling. This added to the whole experience. The boat was very comfortable with a heated cabin and bathroom and drinks and snacks available to purchase. We brought our own lunch and drinks and that is fine to do. I would highly suggest doing this tour with Outer Island Expeditions. It is well worth the money for the amazing memories you will get.
