We don't hike and are not really into nature but the tramway was recommended to us so we went late Friday afternoon and had a great time. We bought a ride and dine ticket so ate in the cafe there. Good value given the price of the admission tickets and the food was okay. Views were stunning and it was much cooler up there than in Palm Springs which was nice. The tram itself was fun, travelling up the mountain coming close to the rocks at times. Best part was coming back down in the dark seeing the lights in Palm Springs. The guy operating the tram turned out the tram lights and turned up the tunes so we all had a blast singing along. Highly recommended

This is truly a man made wonder of the world with breath taking views, but the staff is rude and poorly trained. We received their well advertised "Ride and Dine" tickets as a gift because we had not ever been there before. We entered the terminal and headed towards the 'boarding' area, and a female staff member started yelling at us 'YOU CAN'T GO IN THERE'. Whoa, I'm sorry, it says BOARDING. I showed her our tickets and she calmed down a little, but still nothing close to nice. As we walked away, my husband said "well at least she didn't bite you", and we laughed but it was totally rude and uncalled for. The ride up was awesome, and we spent some time walking around before we went to our pre purchased dinner. They do have what appears to be a real restaurant, but that wasn't what the RIDE AND DINE ticket offers. We went to the Pines Cafe, short for cafeteria. There were many, many staff members standing around doing nothing. We picked up trays and stood in line. We were the only ones in line, and there were no person behind the counter. We waited and waited until a woman and 4 kids came from the "Luncheon" side of cafeteria with a staff member, and suddenly they were open, and we were invisible. None of the other staff came to help her or us. The cashier asked me if every thing was ok, and I told her this was a little like eating dinner at Circle K, only for $21.95 each. I got a blank look and she turned her back. It was 5:15pm. We were and the woman with her children were only ones there. They boast that their capacity is 4,000 people -it took a very long time to get our meal, I can only imagine how long it would take to get thru the line if they were anywhere close to capacity. They offer paper straws, and plastic picnic wear to enhance your dining experience. And I've been sick since I ate the slop. Bottom line is, pack your own meals and you won't be at their mercy for eats.

Facilities are nice and rig is nice. Just had too many people in at one time. I did not enjoy the ride due to the fact that way too many people were crammed in. It could have been great.
