Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

The views are to die for but ticketing is awful. Unless you buy a timed entry ticket from the official website with a specific time on it, you will wait in the same long line as everyone else just to trade your voucher for tickets that do have a boarding time on them. In our case it took an hour to get tickets for a ride that wasn’t for another two hours - so a three hour wait in a crowded stinky lounge for a 5 minute ride to the top after thinking we bought tickets in advance. Once at the top, the whole lodge smelled like a diaper. That’s not hyperbole. Clearly a kid crapped his pants and they didn’t air it out. Thankfully the drink at the top was stiff. Waiting this long for a ride, you’re gonna need a strong drink. Word to the wise: don’t go on this thing unless you have a timed ticket. Otherwise you’ll pay $12 for parking only to be held hostage for hours.

Using the Viator site was smooth and easy.The Tram ride itself was excellent. We actually took it up because we had dinner reservations to celebrate our marriage engagement at the Peaks restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant had power issues and was closed. They never reached out to let us know, so we spent a lot of money on a short Tram ride up and right back down . The tramway people would not refund our money. Personally I felt scammed because of not being informed that they were canceling all dinner reservations.
