This is worth it if you're looking to enjoy the attractions without having to drive around and deal with parking, etc.
That said, the bus does not come as often as one would like. In particular, we had a pretty bad experience when we went to the zoo using the little shuttle. You first need to get yourself to the Art Museum and make a transfer, which is fine. However, after they drop you off, they do not come back for you unless you call. And, even after the call, it took an hour and change and additional phone calls for the shuttle to come and get us, while we waited in the sun. On top of that, they did not hold the big bus at the Art Museum for us - we missed it by seconds - so we had to wait for the next one, which they promised would come soon... it didn't. We ended up ubering out of the Art Museum and the overall zoo trip on the Big Bus cost us the better half of the day. The whole time, we saw an endless number of the purple PHLASH buses coming and going... which we will most likely use in the future.
