We've been on similar hop-on-hop off bus tours in other cities, and this one was one of the better ones in terms of stops/attractions and interesting places to see. The tour guides were generally more knowledgeable than what we've seen on other bus tours. However, the buses ran too infrequently, and we're often overcrowded. Our family of five had to wait for "the next bus" several times when a full one pulled up to the stop where we'd been waiting for 20+ mins. A festival in downtown Philly closed part of the normal tour route one of the days we were there, and the Big Bus company did not bother to put up temporary signs or attempt to notify riders as to how the route would be changed...making for a frustrating experience. Although this tour stops at some great locations, that's more because Philly is a great city to visit. Overall, the hop-on-hop off buses are not an efficient way to get around the city. You spend far too long waiting and too little time moving to where you want to be.

Hello Kevin O,
Thank you for choosing Philadelphia Trolley Works & Big Bus. Thank you for acknowledging our tour guides. They work hard to perfect their craft and take pride in providing an informative and engaging tour. I apologize that events in the city impacted your tour experience. Very often, road closures are spontaneous during events in response to crowds & when known in advance, sales and tour staff do inform guests. Information is also posted on our website when tour detours are known in advance. I do apologize for any inconvenience you and your family experienced.
