Premier Juneau Whale Watching Expedition

Overview
Your 3 hour whale watching adventure begins when you board a coach bus that departs downtown Juneau from the Mt. Roberts Tram parking lot. A 25 minute journey through the picturesque landscape of Southeast Alaska will take you to Auke Bay Harbor. “All aboard!” and you’re off for Alaska waters and the ultimate whale watching experience. The star of the tour is the humpback whale, but we are always looking out for sea lions, bald eagles, or the playful orca. The whales are here to feed in our abundant Alaskan waters.  Our naturalist guides you on a 2 hour whale watching tour. With our experienced captains and Juneau being one of the best ports for whale watching in Alaska, this tour will be an unforgettable experience. A light snack and refreshments will be provided.

These folks hire smart, savvy, energetic young people who love the animals they're seeking and who are knowledgeable about the animals' habits, whereabouts, and place in the ecosystem. Captain Dan seemed to know just where we would see humpback whales, and Danielle and Sam gave us a great education on the whales, dolphins, and sea lions we saw on our cruise. Well worth the time and money, Great folks who really care about these animals and do everything they can to protect them and their habitats.

I booked this trip on my own instead of booking through the cruise line. I am glad I did as it was a great trip. They had us meet in front of the tramway where we boarded a bus for a 25 min trip to the boat while listening to the bus driver provide us with some great information about Juneau. We boarded the boat and remained seated until we got to the first location where we would watch for whales. Our crew was Josh, Courtney and Kris and they were great. In the first spot we say some great shots of a couple of whales. Then we cruised to another location where again we saw some more humpback whales and even had one come up right behind the boat before it put its tale up and submerged. On the bus ride back the driver was very informative and even slowed down for us to see Mendenhall Glacier. I would say that the only improvement would be a better sound system so we could all hear what was being told to us while cruising out to the whales.

Capt. Brandon and his crew Jayden and Maddie were absolutely lovely, super informative and so accommodating. The scenery was breathtaking, the wildlife unexpectedly abundant. Would go again.
