Premier Juneau Whale Watching Expedition

Overview
Your 3 hour whale watching adventure begins when you board a coach bus that departs downtown Juneau from the Mt. Roberts Tram parking lot. A 25 minute journey through the picturesque landscape of Southeast Alaska will take you to Auke Bay Harbor. “All aboard!” and you’re off for Alaska waters and the ultimate whale watching experience. The star of the tour is the humpback whale, but we are always looking out for sea lions, bald eagles, or the playful orca. The whales are here to feed in our abundant Alaskan waters.  Our naturalist guides you on a 2 hour whale watching tour. With our experienced captains and Juneau being one of the best ports for whale watching in Alaska, this tour will be an unforgettable experience. A light snack and refreshments will be provided.

Had a wonderful time on this whale watching trip with Jayden, Chris and Captain Dan. Crew was very knowledgeable and patient in finding the wildlife. On our trip we saw humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, sea lions, eagles and even brown bears on the shore!

We met our contact at the Mt. Roberts Tram. Boarded a bus and headed out of town to the bay where the whale watching boats are docked. Met our Captain, Kara, and our Guide, Kris. Headed off to the bay where known Humpback Whale activity had been. There were a few other whale watch boats in the same area. Sure enough, Flame, the resident Humpback was swimming around, then would dive down, then surface again. Repeating this many times. What a great show!! The weather was blue skies and no clouds, unusual for Juneau. At one of Flame's swims, she headed towards our boat. I was almost sure she was going to hit us, but at the last minute, dove down under the boat at an angle with her tail fin not missing us by 20 feet!!! In between Flames shows, there was a sea lion that came up next to the boat, dove down, came up with a fish. While eating the fish, some of the fish remnants were claimed by a Bald Eagle that swooped in. This all happened within a few feet of our boat. Time to head back, but OMG what a day. Kris and Kara were great and I would highly recommend this tour. I think I took 100 photos.....
