What To Expect

Hana Highway - Road to Hana

Tour the world famous road to Hana and chose all the best stops with the input from your guide. Options include walking, sightseeing, photographing, jumping in pools, floating down streams and taking in the beauty of a vibrant tropical jungle.

Ho'okipa Beach Park

This north shore beach, with breath taking views, has become a gathering place for turtles in recent years providing a good opportunity to see them resting on the beach. Views from the cliff offer surfers and windsurfers riding some of the island's biggest waves.

Wai'anapanapa State Park

A very common stop for visitors because of its natural lava formations and expansive ocean views. The attractions of the park include a rare black sand beach, an ancient walking trail, and a natural blow hole. The park is well suited for all visitors to Maui and has has easily accessible bathrooms

Red Sand Beach - Kaihalulu Beach

One of the world most unique places to visit. The hike to the beach can be difficult and even dangerous, so we take only experienced, adventurous hikers. When the surf is small we are able to take a cautious swim.

Venus Pool (Waioka Pond)

A gorgeous brackish water pool where jungle streams meet the Maui coastline. Sunbathe on warm rocks then cool off jumping into deep clear pools.

Hamoa Beach

Our favorite beach on the island which can be viewed from the road, or enjoyed with a swim in the turquoise ocean and relaxing on the white sand beach.

Charles Lindbergh's Grave

One of the many sights on the road around the backside of Maui. Pristine mountain, ocean, and jungle vistas on this beautiful, but slow going one way road.

My husband and I booked a tour of the Hana Road for our honeymoon in December 2022. I was a little apprehensive at first, as I had no idea what to expect. However, the whole trip exceeded our expectations! It ended up just being my husband, Kellen, and I, which was totally unexpected! I am so glad we booked through here. I would've been stressed driving us the entire trip. It helped SO much to have a local show us around - he knew where to stop, how long to stop, and what he was looking at! Kellen was a fabulous host. He made us feel comfortable from the start, was a VERY safe driver, and easy to get along with. It's a long day, but totally worth it. Thank you Kellen!!!

My husband and I booked a private full loop tour for our honeymoon. We were a bit nervous because this was our first private tour experience, but Kellen blew our expectations out of the water! We met Kellen at a Safeway, and the parking lot was busy enough that we felt comfortable leaving our car there for the day. Kellen immediately made us feel comfortable, inviting us to adjust the car seats and the car’s temperature as needed. Kellen also had bottled water, bug spray, sunscreen, and a couple of extra towels for us. We used the restroom before departing. As introverts, we were nervous about what it would be like to tour with someone we just met, but we instantly liked Kellen and found him easy to talk to. He was very relaxed and eager to share interesting facts as we departed. Kellen took us on the reverse loop route around the island, making a first stop at Grandma’s Coffee House followed by a local honey farm. Laulima Farm Fruit Stand was a pleasant surprise for us. We ordered the fresh fruit platter and loved trying fruits we’d never had before. We stopped at a handful of waterfalls, stunning beaches, and scenic outlooks along the way for swimming and photo opportunities. Kellen offered to take photos of us throughout the tour. Our favorite stops included the black sand beach of Waiʻānapanapa State Park and Keʻanae Park - absolutely stunning! We had lunch at a food truck park in Hana that had plenty of options for everyone. Later in the day, we stopped at Coconut Glen's for the hands-down BEST ice cream we’ve ever had. By the end of the day, Kellen took us on one last stop to Ho'okipa Beach Park where we watched the sea turtles climb ashore as the sun set. Our day was truly like no other, and we would recommend this tour for all ages. The day was crammed packed with lots to do, but we never felt rushed. For some of the major stops, Kellen told us how much time we had before we needed to move on, and he gave us the privacy to explore on our own before meeting back with him. If you plan to book with Local Maui Tours - which is a no-brainer (we would book again in a heartbeat!) - we recommend wearing your swimsuit under your clothes to be ready for plenty of swimming opportunities. Water shoes or waterproof shoes are recommended for the waterfalls. Kellen is a very skilled driver and made us feel comfortable on the road, but we recommend having motion-sickness medicine on-hand, as the road is super curvy. Lastly, bring along some cash for some of the shops along the way. Coconut Glen’s ice cream is cash-only. A HUGE thank-you to Kellen for the amazing tour! We immensely enjoyed the trip, and you deserve all the stars that Tripadvisor has to offer.

I highly recommend this tour! Kellen was excellent! He far exceeded our expectations with his knowledge, driving ability and kindness. We had the best time touring the island with him! I feel like we really saw the highlights as well as some beautiful out of the way spots. He is smart, fun and goes out of his way to make the day special.
