Overall it was a lacklustre, overpriced experience. It lacks none of the peace and thoughtfulness of the Scandinavian style spas where phones are not permitted and your expected to respect the peace of your fellow spa goers. The Instagram and TikTok crowd have arrived. They are loud, entitled, think of no one but themselves while drinking and taking narcissistic chunks of time blocking one’s view from inside the pool while they get that perfect shot and pose of themselves. (One such individual spent a good 40 min). When I was changing into my bathing suit in the change room, one young woman took a FaceTime call from her boyfriend. The service is dismissive - both check in and check out. I’m terribly sorry I expect you to be friendly and give a bit of an overview of the spa layout as part of your job if I’m paying $250 for two people for 2 hours! Most places that you pay this kind of money for offer hair product to style after washing, deodorant, etc. QC only offers body lotion - and 4 of the 5 containers of that were empty. The showers are bizarrely laid out and my shower stall had two broken hooks on the curtain. The rubber flip flops they offer are one size fits all so mine were huge and my spouse’s too small. The ā€œinfrared saunaā€ room is NOT an infrared sauna. It’s a room with beds. Each bed can fit two people and has a light fixture with two infrared bulbs on them that do nothing to create what an infrared sauna actually does. The couple in the bed beside us were making out, the woman across from us was surfing the web on her phone, eating snacks and laughing and sharing whatever amused her on her phone to her friend in the bed next to her. I learned about this spa when I was researching spas in Rome for a trip we are taking next month. I thought it would be great to try it before committing to a whole day when in Rome without knowing the experience. Won’t be wasting that day in Rome so I guess that’s a bit of a win with this experience!? Don’t waste your time or money here. There are better things to do in NYC and spas that treat you like you matter at that price point.

I absolutely loved this place. I went with my friend for an evening with my friend and it was so stunning at sunset. The staff is also incredibly sweet, shout out to Joseph the bartender who was particularly hospitable and kind!

Keeping in mind, the spa opened just 3 months ago, the following observations are from a day visit on Wed. July 27th, 11am check in appointment: Ferry Ride to QCNY/ Governor's Island is easy (10 minutes), the QCNY spa tix includes Ferry ride round trip tix ($4). Upon disembarking, the spa is around the corner, easy to see: * Check in -- long line - the front desk staff (originally 2 people, eventually they added a 3rd person) was slow, with newer staff (perhaps in training) sitting in the waiting area looking at laptops. A woman with a screaming child was in the waiting area, and a guest asked if children are allowed on site (they are not, but for whatever reason this child was in the waiting area. * Locker room - our front desk staff inadvertently assigned all guests to locker rooms next to each other - as in, 15 people checked in and we were literally stacked in the locker room trying to get into our lockers. I brought this to attention of an attendant who admitted this could have been handled better. * Spa pools (there are 2, one larger than the other) was clean, comfortable, but some massage jets didn't work regardless how hard you pushed the buttons. * Smaller pool had 3 life guards (bored, and playing around, they eventually ended up splashing around in the pool, enjoy the water more than the guests watching! * Lunch - over priced for small plates, example poached salmon arugula salad cost $24. While tasty and healthy, the wait line was long with just one attendant taking orders and bartending at the same time (She was amazing and should get recognition asap) * The Spa failed to warn guests - the spa is located directly in the path of various helicopters going back/forth to land at the South Street heliport, as well as planes. In fact, to listen to music/audio book on your phone, volume needed to be on highest levels. * Saunas and steam rooms were very comfortable, clean, enjoyable. * Ladies showers -- uses hanging curtains - which had mold on the bottom, and the shower drains had hair build up. * Spa lotions (free to use) was a bit too watered down to my liking * Spa shampoo and conditioners required extra amounts to truly feel a lathering. Overall experience: , while spa offers a cool view of the city from governor's island, the general take away -- if you truly want a relaxing quiet spa /zen day, QCNY is not the place, but makes for a fun day outing with a friend.
