The manager sees the customer as the enemy. If anything goes wrong, you will lose that money. I would have given two stars if this person wasn't so nuts. The rest of the staff is nice though. The massage room is hidden and not accessible. The staff doesn't know where it is and there are no signs. Expect $100 for a 20 min massage, no refunds. The bar and food is a mess. 1-2 staff for the entire facility. The line is always long and payment doesn't work. People got charged twice and have to argue. The kicker, they charge $24 for a "plain muffin". Imagine getting charged twice ($48) for a plain muffin. Protip: get the 3 hour "break pass" and get out. Don't show them the credit card more than you have to.

Beautiful spa and experience! Can’t wait to go back! It’s masculine and feminine… both men and women will have a lovely time exploring. Food was a bit overpriced but good.

I was just on the Governor's Island this weekend for the 4th of July. I stayed the holiday weekend at the glamping facilities, so I had plenty of time to revisit this place. Let me preface, I'm on the island multiple times a year and have been going for many years. I will vow again, I will NOT step foot in this spa again. I don't see the fascination of this place. Zero Stars!! There are so many other spas in the area offering the same if not better services, trying to attract the same type of high end clientele based on their price point. The rooms are still just Instagram rooms by only offering themes vs. different health quality. For example, one room is trying to look like a den with book spins glued to the wall and another has benches and sounds of bird chirping. Spas I go to for health offer aroma therapy, salt inhalation rooms, ice walls, hydro jets, infra red, clay, silk baths, body scrubs, cedar tubs and carbonated baths. The QC company spent $50 million fixing up 1/3 of a building and I can still see broken windows, badly sealing doors (important in a steam room), and just poor craftsmanship. The food at the Spa is still overprices, small, premade and fast food quality. Governor's Island is constantly opening up new restaurants. From gourmet food trucks to ones with bouncers and you need reservations. You have to sneak out and back in to get a good meal. Definitely go to the island, because it's gorgeous. The trip over on the ferry is fantastic. Biking and hiking around is always great with tons to see. Highly recommend the glamping, Collective Retreats. You can arrange a cheaper massage through them. As for food, lounging arounds and having drinks with friends...try Gitano or Island Oyster. Even at Collective Retreats Food is made fresh and is at a much better price point. I got half a pound of lemon poppy shrimp there for $21 vs. a cold chicken wrap for $28 at QCNY Spa.
