Kenai Fjords National Park

In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Fox Island

Your exploration of Kenai Fjords National Park is enhanced by a chance to step off the boat, stroll the beach and explore on land. This island is rich in inspiration and character.

Booked this trip the first day we were in Seward. Left out on the boat at 5 with Cpt. Jon. Such a fun crew and beautiful time on the water. Dinner at Fox Island was an experience too. Good food. They didn't have enough crab for everyone as they had not expected that many folks requesting the add-on. Crew served hot choc. chip cookies on the ride home. We saw so many beautiful birds, otters and whales. Cpt. Jon even took extra time for us to watch the whales. I would do this trip again anytime and recommend it.

This Kenai Fjords Tour lasted about 5 hours. The boat has 2 decks - holds over 100 passengers. The tour included United Fjords National Park, Fox Island - with a nice buffet lunch, and Resurrection Bay - where we had many sightings- whales, dolphin, sea lions, puffins. It was definitely worth doing.

My only regret about booking this tour is not doing a longer tour on the bay. It left us wanting more when we returned to the dock. We selected the 4.5 hour cruise with lunch. The lunch was alright, but enjoyable. There are refreshments for sale on the boat. Dress warmly and try to stay on the bow as long as you can. You can still view wildlife from inside, but it is not the same experience. The crew was extremely friendly and informative. It does not feel touristy at all and was a very enjoyable experience.
