Overview

Our Sonoma Coast Kayak Tour takes you to the edge of the beautiful Pacific Ocean where we explore the Russian River as it meets the sea. Birds, seals, the occasional passing whale, and relaxing on the river are the highlights of this great day on the water. Expect to spend approximately 2.5 hours on this tour which includes paddling the river and walking on the beach while gazing out on the Pacific Ocean.

Please bring water shoes or sandals.
We will get wet. Bring clothes you won't mind getting wet and consider bringing a change of clothes.
The weather at the coast can change quickly. Please bring an extra layer in case it is a bit chilly. It's better to have more clothes than you need rather than wish you had an extra layer.
Due to Covid-19 we are unable to supply food or beverages. If you would like lunch during or after your tour please feel free to bring something to enjoy or your guide can recommend some of our fantastic local cafes or restaurants.

Erik took us on an amazing tour of the Sonoma coast, paddling past countless harbor seals, birds and rugged beaches. I’m recommending this tour to all my family and friends!

We went on a private kayak tour with Eric for during our mini-honeymoon in the area. The experience was absolutely amazing. From the beginning he was so friendly and informative. He picked us up at 9AM at our hotel and drove us to the River spot we took off from. He even had Gluten free snack items for me to eat in the car if we were hungry. He set us up with a double kayak which I am very grateful for because 3 hours on the water is work! The views were one of a kind though and made it worth it! At one point the three of us just sat floating in the water with 12-15 seals popping up around us. They were so cute. Growing up in CA I've seen sea lions and seals on the beach but never from a kayak, and never so close up! It was amazing. At the end of the tour, he set up a beautiful picnic for my husband and I.Complete with table cloth, roasted veggies, chicken, kale salad, and champagne. It was the perfect end to our mini get away! Thank you for the wonderful tour. It was amazing!

Our family had a really lovely time kayaking in Jenner. Erik was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife and history of the area. We were fortunate to get quite close looks at a group of river otters. And it was just magical being out on the water with the seals all around us, popping their heads out of the water to look at us. After our paddle, Erik set out a really nice picnic lunch. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Smart Tours!
