Salem Kids Slightly Spooky Tour

Overview
This tour combines true tales from Salem’s past with some mild ghost stories just for kids age 6+. Our aim is not to scare the heck out of your kids, but to provide a little shiver and bit of mystery for kids who like ghost stories. We are also telling you intriguing historical facts as well. This tour follows a route that is near the downtown, but it’s a little off the beaten path, very picturesque, and you’ll feel as if you stepped back in time. The tour ends at our historic and creepy Broad Street Cemetery, which was established in 1655. Meets at 316 Essex Street.
For over twelve years, parents traveling with kids have chosen Salem Kids Tours for a fun, well-researched and fascinating trip through time. Many times we have heard from kids, “I didn’t want the tour to end.” Parents have described our tours as the highlight of their trip to Salem. We are happy to show you around. We love kids, we understand their unique needs, and we look forward to meeting you on one of our tours.

We attended the tour with our 10 year old. It was a nice break from the craziness of Essex St. The tour guide was a wealth of knowledge. We all enjoyed it! I was happy my daughter was able to learn some interesting, historical facts about Salem. I was even inspired to buy a copy of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne before we ended our trip!

Wow, I'm so thrilled that you bought The Scarlet Letter! My aim is to inspire curiosity and continued learning, so this is great to hear. 10 years old is so perfect for my tour; I'm so glad that your daughter enjoyed it. I hope to see you again on a future visit to Salem. Happy Haunting! Alicia

I joined this tour with my sister and nieces (ages 5 and 7). Alicia is official, has a badge and knows a lot of the other tour guides and locals in Salem. My nieces did not leave Alicia's side during the tour. She is a good story teller and was able to hold the attention of the children (and adults!) during the tour. Even I learned a few things. Tour was about an hour long and does not include strenuous walking. I would recommend this tour to those who have kids, it's a good option when educating children about history as it covers more than just the witch trials.

We did this tour with our 10 year old twins and it was great! We live just a few towns away from Salem, but this was our first time bringing our boys. Being local, I have experienced other walking tours of Salem pre-kids which were great, but would have been way too long and tedious for the kids. Alicia was such a great guide, and being a 6th grade teacher she knows exactly how to talk to kids and keep their attention while also being very informative and interesting to adults. I also appreciated that while the witch trials are certainly discussed and weaved through the tour, it’s not just a witch tour. Salem is a great city with many other interesting stories and characters, and I really appreciated that those were also included. If you are bringing kids to Salem, Alicia is absolutely the best guide for them.
