The tour takes you to four missions (a fifth would be the Akamai, that make up the missions in the area) and typically drives by two of them and stops at the other two. We did get an extra stop in at the first mission (San Francisco de Espada) which was nice but donā€™t fret if your tour only drives by it. Itā€™s small and while Iā€™m glad we saw it, itā€™s not that memorable compared to the two you will stop at. The two biggest missions - the ones you for sure will explore - are pretty neat and youā€™ll get some good photos of the churches and San Jose also has some interesting surrounding grounds with ā€œapartmentsā€ and a couple other buildings. Overall the trip was worth it, itā€™s not too pricey and I was picked up at 8:30 and back to my hotel at 12:30; so it wonā€™t eat into your full day. Also, the communication was great. I got a phone call the evening before to confirm and give me an idea of the pickup time and then another call the morning of the trip confirming an even more specific pickup time. To nitpick, the description said it would be a small group of 10 but, for some reason, it was 28 of us. I donā€™t feel it impacted my enjoyment of the trip, and I didnā€™t pay extra for this (it was the only missions tour offered) but sometimes you get more detailed history and details the smaller the group so I was a bit surprised at the group size versus what it was described as. But overall, a good tour.

We are so glad you had a great tour and found it informative; thanks for taking your time to write a review; all of our guides are very knowledgeable and fun and strive to give each and every guest a memorable and meaningful experience; please come back and see us soon and try our San Antonio Grand Historic City Tour (with 55 sites) or our Texas Hill Country & LBJ Ranch Tour. Finally, our records indicate that because we had 28 guests the day of the tour, we added a second tour guide in order to have two small groups.

The small group tour was very informative and went at a great pace. Our guide was kind and knowledgeable. The only thing that prevented me from a 5 star rating is that our guide seemed to run out of steam by the last 2 missions and did not offer as much information without some prompting.
