This was our first whale watching trip and we were not disappointed. The ship and crew did an outstanding job both with their knowledge and friendliness. We saw multiple Blue whales, dolphins, sea lions and even a Hammerhead shark.

This is a must around late June into July! Our trip was an absolute blast! Bring a jacket if you are cold-natured, the temperature out on the ocean is about 10 degrees cooler, especially if your sitting in a covered portion of the boat. We were able to see about 15-20 blue whales, with a couple of them coming within 10-20 feet of the boat! One of the whales actually swam right under our boat and surfaced on the other side. Awesome. Seeing these monstrous mammals in their natural habitat is quite the experience, and shouldn't be missed by anyone should you be visiting San Diego at the right time. The action takes place about 9 miles from the coast, and it takes around 20-25 minutes to reach the area, but the journey is smooth, relaxing, and even more pleasant should dolphins join the ride. The dolphins are plentiful, and really round out the trip when they are performing tricks along the side of the boat. The guides were awesome, and they include a medical specialist for guests who are prone to sea-sickness. The captain always stops for optimal viewing when whales are spotted, and you spend PLENTY of time out at sea to maximize economic value. Our experience was 3 hours, and it flew. Be sure to get the Groupon for 1 or 2 to save a few bucks, its well worth it. If you're in San Diego, don't miss this opportunity, it was one of the highlights of our vacation!

This was a wonderful trip, and we were lucky enough to see about a dozen blue whales. We even had a couple of tale flips! The crew was fantastic, and certainly seemed to take care of the passengers who were sea sick. I highly recommend this for families!! I strongly advise you to take motion sickness medicine well before getting on the boat. It travels about 10 miles out into the ocean, and lots of people were getting sick. If you wait until you get on board, it may be too late to help you.
