We had a Groupon for this attraction which saved us a lot of money, found out half price offered on Tuesday trips anyway. Staff on board seemed competent and were trying very hard to spot whales (or at least some dolphins) for us to see. But obviously this is somewhat out of their control. We were almost at the end of our trip before having to turn around to return. Fortunately, another whale watching boat shared their spotting of a Fin Whale and our boat soon joined them. It was an incredible once in a lifetime experience for us to see this Fin Whale surface and dive several times, to see both its dorsal and tail fin when it arched to make its dive down to hunt for food.
Personally, I would have enjoyed this boat ride even if we did not get to see any whales. You can bring a backpack along with some of your own snacks and water even though they sell snacks on the boat. Also, it can get windy and chilly on this boat ride, so bring along a jacket and even light gloves if you plan to stand up looking around with binoculars as I did.
If there is any chance you might suffer motion sickness, please be sure to take some dramamine at least an hour before your sail time.
There is free parking available at this attraction. Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your sail time.
