San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

Really enjoyed this whale watching tour. Saw hundreds of dolphins, a few seals, and 2 or 3 whales. The 3 hour trip length is the perfect amount of time. The guides were VERY knowledgeable about marine life and know where to find the whales and dolphins.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw many dolphins, including babies and a fin whale and a blue whale. We were able to take time to wait for the whales and explore. The location is easy to find, right on the bus line.

Wonderful way to spent a morning in San Diego. While we didn't see any big whales, we did pass through a pod of 200+ dolphins (which are technically whales) and this made the trip worth it. Overall, it was a great experience. The boat is big enough that you don't feel the waves too much (though I took Dramamine as a precaution). It's also not crowded, so everyone gets a seat with a good view of the water. There are beverages and snacks on board. In addition to looking for whales, you get a unique view of the coastline, and Mexico and there are other ships and boats around. Also the staff walk around and talk to you; they are very knowledgeable both about the animals and the ocean environment. They are ready for you to ask questions but will also walk up and ask how things are going. They do a good job of making sure they talk to everyone. While the trip does get a little dull over the course of 3 hours, it's still worth it. Highly recommend.
