San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

Very knowledgeable guides. Large enough ship that rough water is less of an issue. Saw hundreds of dolphins, a few immense blue whales, and a couple of grey whales! Will definitely go again when I’m in the area.

Been on San Diego Whale watch 4 times now and each time the crew was very knowledgeable and did a great job to spot whales for us. There is no guarantee but they really try to ensure you see whales.

The staff are friendly and informative, you need cash for the boat, if you want to buy anything on board. We had 5-8 foot swells on the way out but the boat is stable so it wasn’t bad. You can if you need to buy Dramamine on board. Dress warmly if it is cool out as it is cooler on the water. Wear sunscreen a hat and sunglasses. We saw a fin whale and calf, very cool and lots of common dolphins who played with the boat. They also have a drone they can launch so the can get photos of the whales. I would definitely do this again.
