San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and well done whale watching trip. All the crew, both on the boat and dockside were friendly and competent. All seemed to care about each passenger. They left on time which I like, as some of these type tours aren't efficient enough to keep to their posted schedule. The boat, though older, was neat and clean. The snack bar was reasonably priced. The best part was a successful sighting. We found a blue whale and were able to observe it, watch it breech, see it dive and see its fluke. Absolutely stunning. My companion felt a little queasy (motion sickness) and two crew members repeatedly checked on her and asked if there was anything they could do. Their concern was helpful in and off itself. Parking is great, as opposed to the downtown boat companies. I highly recommend this whale tour company.

We had a lot of fun on our whale watching adventure. Great guides and fun guests. The only no-show was the whale. However, there were so many dolphin pods, it was incredible. Literally hundreds of dolphins popping out of the water everywhere we looked.

With just a short time in San Diego, my sister had mused about whale watching since she had never been on the ocean. We were able to find a deal on Groupon for a 3 hour Seaforth cruise at a good rate. Whale watching is always a risky deal since there are no guarantees of sightings. People complaining about this are being naive; the crew does the best they can daily to locate whales and teamwork is used between vessels to communicate sighting locations. We were fortunate to see both fin whale and blue whale spouts and get a relatively ely close view of a blue whale surfacing. Best of all were lots and lots of dolphins feeding and following.
