San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

There is no promise that you will see a whale or a dolphin but even if you don't you'll still have a great time with awesome boat trip. If there are sea mammals to be seen they will do everything they can to let you see them. Today was very foggy and I didn't expect to see anything but we saw an amazing school of dolphins. The crew were very helpful and listening to their stories was one of the highlights. We would certainly recommend this company, they make whale watching fun.

Good commentary and background info by Jeremy, our onboard naturalist. We really enjoyed it. We saw several gray whales, one humpback, and a large pod of white-sided dolphins that swam along our boat for several hundred meters. Everyone was taking videos on their cells. This is such a fun thing to do, and the fresh ocean air is a treat. Be sure to wear a well-secured hat and sunscreen. After the excursion they post pictures on their Facebook page for downloading.

Our Captain put us right on the flukes of 4 beautiful whales. 3 were grey whales & one was humpback. The humpback was playing, slapping his fluke in the water & bobbing up and down on the surface. What really stole the show was the dolphins. We found a pod of short-beaked dolphins about 5 miles off the coast and they surrounded the boat & put on an extraordinary show. The boat left on time & returned on time & made sure we had a great trip. Food options were very good. Would definitely recommend a light sweater / windbreaker as it does get chilly when the boat's moving. If you're cold, there is space to hide out inside the galley.
