A great introduction to the history of the Castro. Kathy is very friendly and knowledgeable. We went on the Castro tour in 2008 and then again in 2012. The content and tour stops had changed a bit so it was certainly worth a repeat visit. We also took Kathy's Harvey Milk / City Hall tour which was fantastic. City Hall is an amazing building and to hear about Harvey's career in this place made for a very memorable experience. Tour group sizes were smallish (around 6 people), and on both tours Kathy took photographs of participants (on our own cameras) so we could have a memento.

Three very informative hours with a most pleasant guide. The areas historical insights dating back to 1850 were quite something. As usual, things are more complex than ofttimes projected

Our tour, given by Kathy Armendola, was one of the best tours I've ever been on anywhere and that's saying something because I have travelled in the Orient, in the U.S., Mexico, Central and South America and Canada. I am a native of San Francisco, from the Mission District which is right next to the Castro, and through Kathy's insights even I learned things I didn't know. Kathy is genuine, caring and inclusive, making the tour an interactive experience. I highly recommend this tour for everyone and especially for those travelers who do not experience alternate lifestyles in their everyday lives. It will open your eyes and Kathy will open your heart.
