My daughters and I stayed for a week in San Francisco. They'd been to the Bay Area numerous times when they were younger, but neither have any memories of their experiences. When we planned the trip, I decided to really turn it into an adventure. What a great time we had on the walking tour with Kathy. Kathy is great, very personable and provided a lot of information on the civil rights battles the LBGTQ community have fought. I particularly enjoyed the information Kathy provided regarding the school nearby and how they teach them social justice. I wish all public schools were as open and welcoming as this particular school. So great enjoying everyone's company on the tour and Kathy was sincerely interested in everyone who was on the tour. What a great day we had and a reminder from Kathy that those who can sometimes be of most help in social justice and a call to activism, are those from outside the LBGTQ community! Thanks Kathy!

My partner and I had visited San Francisco many years ago in our salad days and really loved the city, how open it is for gays, and just all the great vibes. We had the opportunity to visit again, now as older, more settled guys, and taking walking tours is now one of our favorite jams for vacations. This tour was $30 per person, and I hesitated just a bit because there were no refunds if you decided not to go. After reading ALL of the glowing reviews, we decided to take the leap and sign up--we couldn't be more glad that we did!!! To say that Kathy is amazing is an understatement. Her enthusiasm for all things San Francisco is infectious! She is a wealth of knowledge, and makes the tour interesting and engaging with every single step the group takes. I don't know if they have given her the key to the city yet, but she is about the best ambassador San Francisco could ever want, or have. The time we spent with her was really some of the most memorable time we spent during our entire trip!!! We walked away from the tour well informed and with the feeling that we would love to be friends with Kathy if we lived in SF--she was instantly familiar and accessible. She obviously has a genuine love of, and interest in people, and a serious passion for her city. You cannot go wrong experiencing SF through Kathy's eyes!!!

Kathy was a wealth of knowledge of her neighborhood and history. My husband and I (mid 40's) met up with Kathy and a younger couple (20's) and Kathy bridged that dynamic flawlessly! We were able to discuss the history of the Castro and discuss our own reflections between our group. We did the tour on a Monday afternoon and the city was active. There were plenty of shops and restaurants pointed out and we did go to one after the tour; along with the GLBT museum. The advice to wear comfortable shoes is a must, and we suggest to out-of-towners to dress for the weather (we learned everyone has a light jacket or hoodie stowed away somewhere in their backpacks for a reason!). We liked the history that was everywhere, from murals on buildings, to plaques embedded on the sidewalk. The meet up spot is on top of the Harvey Milk Plaza, a public transportation node for the MUNI, so getting there was a breeze.
